St. Etto, 670 A.D. Irish missionary bishop in Belgium, also called Hitto. He was at St. Peter Abbey in Fescau .
Martyrs of Damascus. Eight Franciscan and three Maronite martyrs slain in a Druse uprising in 1860 in Damascus, Syria. When they refused to accept the Muslim faith, they were executed. Pope Pius XI beatified them in 1926.July 10
St. Peter Tu, Roman Catholic Martyr, a Vietnamese who became a catechist and was arrested by authorities. He was beheaded. Feastday: July 10
Bl. Emmanuel Ruiz. Martyr with eleven companions in Lebanon. A Spanish Franciscan, Emmanuel and the others were caught up in the rising of the Druses in Lebanon. The Franciscan community, eight in number, and three Maronite laymen were slain by the Islamic rebels. 1860 A.D. He was beatified in 1926.
STS. RUFINA AND SECUNDA, MARTYRS ON THE VIA CORNELIA
Sts Rufina and Secunda lived in the 3rd century. They were engaged to be married, but their fiancés renounced Christ for fear of the persecutions. Rufina and Secunda then took vows of virginity. Enraged, their former fiancés denounced them as Christians. They were martyred around the year 260.
