St. Anastasius, Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls

Anastasius of the noble Roman Maximi family was elected Pope in 399. He had a profound spirituality and lived a lifestyle of poverty. He courageously defended the Catholic faith, opposing the heresy of Donatism. He died in 401.

B. Urban V, Pope, Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls

Guillaume de Grimoard, later Urban V, was a French Benedictine monk, elected Pope in Avignon (1362-1370). He tried in vain to bring the Apostolic See back to Rome and to heal the rift that had developed between West and East. An austere man, he helped the poor and fought corruption in the clergy.

MARY OF THE MERCY ST.PACIFIC OF SAN SEVERINO, FRANCISCAN FRIAR, Carlo Antonio Divini was born in San Severino in 1653; he was orphaned at a young age. Saint Nicholas Owen - Independent Catholic News : Jesuit lay-brother, martyr. There is no record of his family, birthplace, date of birth, or baptism. Nicholas had been a servant of the Society of Jesus and joined the order around 1580. At the execution of St Edmund Campion he openly declared him innocent and was imprisoned. After his release he served the priests Henry Garnett and John Gerard for eighteen years. He was captured again with with Fr John, escaped from the Tower, and helped the escape of Father Gerard.
