Sts. Isaac Jogues and Rene Goupil, Roman Catholic Jesuit Priests and Martyrs. Two of the six North American Martyrs. Captured and tortured to death at the hands of the Indians.
St. Anthony Daniel, Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest and Martyr of New France. He was slain by the Iroquois. He is one of the eight Canadian Martyrs.
St. Charles Garnier, Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest and Martyr. Charles was murdered by a war party of Iroquois, He is one of the North American Martyrs.
St. Jean de Brebeuf, Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest and Martyr of New France. Patron saint of Canada Brebeuf and his assistant, Gabriel Lalemant, were captured and tortured to death by the Iroquois.
St. Theofrid Feastday: October 19 728 A.D. Abbot and martyr. He was serving as abbot of Carmery-en-Velay when the community was attacked by a band of Saracens. He died as a result of the injuries he received at their hands and was thereafter venerated as a martyr. In some lists he is called Chaffre or Theoftoy.
Bl. Agnes de Jesus Galand, Roman Catholic Dominican Nun.
St. Laura, Roman Catholic and Martyr. She was martyred by Muslims who took her captive and scalded her to death by placing her in a vat of boiling lead. She is one of the Martyrs of Córdoba. Feast Day Oct. 19.
