St. Trumwin, 704 A.D. Early Scottish bishop. An Englishman by birth, he was named bishop of the Picts in southern Caledonia (Scotland), in 681. He based his mission in the monastery of Abercorn on the Firth of Forth. When his political patron King Egfrith of Northumbria was slain by the Picts at the Battle of Nechtansmere, Trumwin was forced to flee with all of his monks to the safety of the south Taking up residence at Whitby, England, he spent his remaining days there as a monk.
