Saint of the day August 10
St. Lawrence, Roman Catholic Priest and Martyr. Having died a martyr for Christ, St. Lawrence is the patron of deacons, chefs and firefighters. Around the time of his feast day, celebrated on August 10, the night sky is lit with bright lights. For folk tradition these lights are “falling stars”, tears St. Lawrence shed during his martyrdom. Saint Lawrence was one of seven deacons who were in charge of giving help to the poor and the needy.Feastday Aug10
