Pope canonises seven new saints, including Argentina's 'gaucho priest' - Independent Catholic News: Pope Francis on Sunday canonized seven new Saints including Argentina's 'gaucho priest' Jose Gabriel del Rosario Brochero. Many flag-waving Argentinians made the journey to Rome for the occasion, among them Argentine President Mauricio Macri and his family. Fr Brochero, who lived from 1840 to 1914, is a popular figure in Argentina known for his work with the sick and dying during the cholera epidemic in Cordoba in 1867.
