SAINT OF THE DAY NOVEMBER 28 ST. JAMES OF THE MARCHES, FRANCISCAN St James, known from his birthplace as “of the Marches” became a Franciscan in 1415. Much of his career was spent as a papal envoy in eastern Europe. He was a noted preacher, fiery, but with a severity tempered by mercy. To fight against usury, he established lending houses to assist the poor.
