ST. APOLLINARIS, BISHOP OF RAVENNA AND MARTYR

St. Paul of St. Zoilus, Roman Catholic Spanish martyr. Paul was a deacon of Cordoba, Spain, and a member of the community of St. Zoilus in that city. He devoted much of his effort to bringing aid to those Christians imprisoned by Muslim officials. Seized by members of the ruling Islamic government, he was beheaded. Feastday July 20

ST. AURELIUS, BISHOP OF CARTHAGE-Aurelius was Bishop of Carthage at the end of the 4th century. At the time, the churches of North Africa were split by the Donatist schism. Supported by the St Augustine, Aurelius worked to heal the division. He made sure that all his efforts were in harmony with the Roman Church. He died in 430.

ST. ELIJAH, PROPHET

St. Etheidwitha. Widowed queen of King Alfred the Great of England. She was an Anglo-Saxon princess, also called Ealsitha. Etheldwitha founded a convent at Winchester in the Benedictine rule and became the abbess there.
