SAINT OF THE DAY DECEMBER 21 ST. PETER CANISIUS, JESUIT AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH St. Peter Canisius was the first Dutch Jesuit and lived in the 16th century. He is considered the second Apostle of Germany after St. Boniface. A prolific writer, he was one of the architects of the spiritual renewal of the Catholic Church promoted by the Council of Trent. ST. MICAH, PROPHET Born in the 8th century near Jerusalem, Micah was a peasant, whom God called to denounce the exploitation of the poor, the injustices committed by the powerful and corrupt, and the practice of idolatry.
